I just finished watching the movie EXAM, which is a thriller written and directed by Stuart Hazeldine. This is one of those movies that has a low budget, but that doesn't hold it back at all. I would compare to movies like Saw, The Man From Earth, or even 12 Angry Men, because of the fact that it has only one setting and it utilizes that setting to a great effect. The main plot of this movie is about eight people form all walks of life, trying to win a job at this big company, they are given an "exam", which they are told is "one question, with one answer". These candidates are also given a set of rules that they are not allowed to break, for if they do they are disqualified. The problem with their exam is that they can't find the question anywhere, they try working together and then separately, some rivalries growing between the different candidates, but mostly to no avail. The acting in this movie, for the most part, is fairly good, there are a couple people who I could have done without, but for a low budget movie, it does pretty well. I generally like the different ways the characters interacted with each other and their environment and, although I wasn't completely happy with the outcome, I would give this movie a rating of about 3.8/5.
I am now about to begin my viewing of the Elephant Man, a movie I've been meaning to watch for a long time now.

The First Post
Well, this is it, my first blog post. I really only decided to start one because I have a friend who started one too, and I though it would be cool. I guess I'll give some background on who I am. I go to University for game development, although I'm not as big of a gamer as I used to be. You can still a lot of this blog to be about games, but also a lot about movies (my true love). I'll also occasionally talk about comics or music or just whatever random is going on in my life. I'm going to now list off a bunch of my favorite things from various form of entertainment (movies, games, etc.).
My favorite movies are mostly either Film Noir or Psychological Thrillers, but I like most things, including romantic comedies and stuff more like that. My top 5 films are The Shawshank Redemption, L.A. Noir, Oldboy, Memento, and The Silence of the Lambs.
I don't watch to many TV shows, but I do have some favorites, and they are; LOST (my favorite show of all time), Prison Break, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Clone High (which I believe was cancelled too early), and Heroes (at least in the beginning).
Now on to books and comics, my favorite author is Neil Gaiman so there'll be few things by him on my list of favorites which are; The Sandman Series, American Gods, Digital Fortress, the Darren Shan Saga (favorite book series growing up), and Green Grass, Running Water. Just a little note here, the title of my blog is taken from a Neil Gaiman graphic novel.
MUSIC TIME!!!! I'm definitely just going to list bands instead of songs (that would be too hard), so here it goes; Avenged Sevenfold (or A7X if you wish), Rise Against, Foo Fighters, The Beatles, and, this one switches around a lot but currently I've been listening to a lot of it, One Republic. I like basically all music though, as long as it not just random scratches and screams, I like everything from Beethoven to Marilyn Manson.
Time for me to pick my favorite video games, which is always hard for me. I enjoy adventure games the most along with RPGs, or platformers. My number one game is Grim Fandango, which I will talk about in some other blog post at a later time, also, I'm just gonna group in all LucasArts adventure games together or that would take up the whole list. My number two game is The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, followed closely by Chrono Cross (not Trigger, but I love that one too), then Super Mario RPG, and coming in fifth is Hotel Dusk: Room 215.
Now I'm just gonna throw in a bunch of random other favorite things I have. My favorite color is white, or, if you think that doesn't count because it's just the absence of color or whatever, then green. My favorite food is fillet minion, I also really love all types of seafood. My favorite artistic style is surrealism and my favorite architectural style is minimalism. If swimming is a sport, it's my favorite, if not, then Football is, but only to watch. I like summer most of all seasons, I just love the heat, and the time off is nice too. I also like to bow to Asian people, I hope you don't think that's racist, my Asian friends don't.
I also think I'm gonna get in the habit of putting whatever I'm doing or what song I'm currently listening to at the bottom of each blog post, just so you know. Right now, although I don't want to admit it, I'm listening to Troublemaker by Akon. I'm also playing Three Towers Solitaire on FaceBook, I'm addicted to that for some reason. Well, that's it for my first post, hopefully I'll update this at least somewhat regularly. Goodnight world.
